A Million Miles in a Thousand Years

Just finished reading A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller.  Some of you may remember I wrote a post awhile back about telling your life story.  The blog post entered me to win a free copy of Don Miller's book via Chris Brogan, and I just happened to be one of the first to respond! Needless to say, I got the book in the mail, cracked it open right then and there and couldn't put it down.

It is a very easy read with short chapters but each one packs storys and great quotes to underline and keep in mind.  I like that Miller doesn't preach about being perfect or that writing a great story is simple if you just set your mind to it.  He admits it's hard, and failure, struggle and mountainous obstacles are what make a story great in the end.

I would highly recommend the book as a good, quick read, that will make you reflect long after you put it down.

"What I'm saying is I think life is staggering and we're just used to it. We all are like spoiled children no longer impressed with the gifts we're given - it's just another sunset, just another rainstorm moving over a mountain, just another child being born, just another funeral."

"Write a good story, take somebody with you, and let me [God] help."
